Shimp Engineering is made up of a diverse group of designers, engineers, and planners; many of whom were born, raised or educated in Central Virginia. We are a highly motivated, energetic, and creative interdisciplinary team.

Michael Chandler, P.E.

Project Engineer

A local of Central Virginia, Michael graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017, where he earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering. He brought his talents to Shimp Engineering shortly after and now serves as a Project Manager, guiding a wide range of projects from concept to completion. With a strong focus on site design, stormwater management, utility layouts, and as-built plans, Michael brings energy and precision to every detail. When he is not at work, Michael enjoys fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his wife and sons.

Chris Marshall

Project Engineer, P.E

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2015 with a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Chris started off his career in project management in the D.C. area for a national general contracting firm. He returned to the Central Virginia area in 2021, joining our team as a Project Engineer. Building upon his expertise in managing large-scale construction projects, Chris assists with the preparation of site design and VSMP plans for a variety of our projects where he utilizes his field expertise into designing effective site solutions for our clients. When Chris isn't in the office, he enjoys camping, hiking, and skiing.

Chanunta Pitaksringkarn (Kankan)

Project Engineer

Chanunta (KanKan) is a Civil Engineer who earned her master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Originally from Thailand, she joined Shimp Engineering in 2024 as a Project Engineer. Her work focuses on site development, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, utility design, roadway and entrance design, and coordination with local agencies and VDOT. In her free time, KanKan enjoys visiting coffee shops and watching films in theaters.

Chananchida (Hoshi) Maunhan

Project Engineer

Hoshi graduated from George Mason University in 2025 with her B.S. in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering and joined Shimp Engineering the same year as a Project Engineer. Outside of work, she is more of an indoor person and enjoys drawing on her iPad, watching shows, exploring new cafés, spending time with her cat Cheeseburger, and visiting her family in Northern Virginia.

Megan Rinald

Site Designer

Megan joined Shimp Engineering as an intern in 2026 and has transitioned to her current role as a Site Designer. She holds a Bachelor's in Environmental Science from the University of Mary Washington and a Master's in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, which together shape her approach to planning and design.  A Charlottesville local, Megan takes pride in working on projects that help her hometown grow and develop responsibly and thoughtfully. Megan is a skilled yoyo thrower, an avid fan of cartoons, and loves spending time with her dog, Leo.

Stephanie Paul

Project Engineer, B.S Civil Engineering; B.S. Architecture

A dual-degree graduate from the University of Virginia’s architecture and engineering programs, Stephanie excels at bringing ideas from concept to construction. She is passionate about learning the processes and methods of construction management, from choosing materials to communicating ideas to clients and communities. Stephanie has a wide range of interests, including working on and racing cars, traveling, dancing, movies, and sports. She joined us in 2019.

Natalie Oliveira

Project Engineer, P.E.

Natalie joined Shimp Engineering as a Project Engineer in 2026 bringing experience as a Stormwater Design Engineer in both Colorado and Florida. She graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys anything outdoors, cooking, watching movies and spending time with her dog.

Hayley Sandler

Site Designer

Hayley joined Shimp Engineering in 2026 after earning a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Virginia. She has developed a passion for exploring the intersection of design, planning, engineering, and construction. Outside of work, Hayley enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading, drawing, and spending time with her dog, Bo.

Bryce Dillard

Project Engineer

Born and raised in central Virginia, Bryce graduated from Virginia Tech in 2025 with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Robotics & Mechatronics. Bryce worked as a researcher for the MicroN BASE laboratory before coming to work for Shimp Engineering, P.C. When he is not at work, Bryce enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Morrigan, and serving as an EMT at Lake Anna Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Josue Romero

Project Engineer

After serving on active duty in the military as a paralegal, Josue decided to pursue a career in land development. He has earned two associate's degrees, one in Civil Engineering Technologies and another in Geomatics (Land Survey). In his prior experience he has worked as both a design engineer and land surveyor in both North Carolina and Virginia, bringing a diverse set of skills and knowledge to all the projects he dedicates time to. In his free time he likes to spend time with family, primarily his daughter. He also enjoys exploring cities, towns, museums, and festivals.

Brian Croushorn

CFO

Brian, originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, graduated from James Madison University in 2015. He began his professional journey in sales in NYC. Over time, Brian discovered a strong interest in financial operations, which led him to transition into the field of accounting. Today, he brings his diverse background and sharp eye for business efficiency to his role as Chief Financial Officer for both Shimp Engineering P.C. and Foresight Survey P.C. He enjoys traveling with his wife and spoiling his daughter.

Polina Andreeva

Site Designer

Polina is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Urban and Environmental Planning program and works as a site designer at Shimp Engineering. She focuses on developing initial concept plans and supporting applications for zoning map amendments, special use permits, and related land use processes. Polina first joined the firm as an intern, gaining a year of hands-on experience before transitioning to a full-time role. Outside of her planning work, she runs a handmade crochet toy business and is a regular vendor at the Charlottesville City Market every Saturday.

Sullivan Higgins

Project Engineer

Sullivan is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Prior to completing his degree, Sullivan spent a year working under a land surveyor back home in Southwest Virginia. He joined Shimp Engineering in 2025 as a Project Engineer, primarily focusing on site development plans, stormwater management plans, and infrastructure design. Outside of work, he enjoys being outdoors, building and painting miniatures, exploring Charlottesville, and spending time with his friends and family.

Ruslan Gusakov

Project Engineer

A Charlottesville native and student, Ruslan has a strong history of contributing to the growth and development of local businesses in Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. He is driven to create, design, and help build a beautiful future by integrating engineering principles through a diverse range of skills and creative abilities. Outside of his professional work, Ruslan enjoys spending time with his daughter, cooking for loved ones, and tinkering with small personal projects.
